Teachers need to be good listeners to help protect the safety and well-being of their students. This is usually any feedback they receive from students to explain a recent absence from class.
But recently, a school official in Louisiana received a chilling letter from an 11-year-old student. CNN reports what happened.
The note described a terrifying case written by the student’s mother. She was afraid to get out of a trailer in which a family acquaintance, Donald Ray J., got stuck. Turns out it was basically a hostage situation.
East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis said the woman had been trapped for weeks.
Travis was able to obtain a search warrant so officers could enter the house. Police showed up at the trailer and found the mother who had written the note and two members of Guy’s family inside. They also find Jay hiding in a closet.
The baby’s mother was found unharmed and Jay was arrested. The man faces numerous charges. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a number of outstanding arrest warrants. He is being held without bail.
In addition, mother and child were reunited. It was a happy ending for the victims involved thanks to one woman’s clever thinking.
