However, this usually does not happen when the child is only eight years old.
Coping with a sick mother
There will come a time in most people’s lives when they come face to face with a parent with a chronic or terminal illness. However, this usually does not happen when the child is only eight years old. Children may have difficulty dealing with their feelings, understanding what is going on, and coping with all the needs of a terminally ill parent.
Coping with a parent’s cancer diagnosis
Coping with a parent’s cancer diagnosis is hard enough for an adult. For children, the process must be heartbreaking. In the case of eight-year-old Sophie and Lauren Krebs, their father Lee was able to help them through the process and talk to them about their feelings every step of the way.
Sophie and Lauren’s mother, Alex, had a brain tumor.
What did the 8-year-old twins do
Sophie and Lauren sang a special song for their mother while she was in the hospital. The song “Golden” by Kylie Minogue. The girls’ father recorded their song. After their mother passed away, Sophie and Lauren’s father posted the video on social media and tagged Minogue to share how much her music means to their family.
Our girls singing to their mummy, the day before she died. Alex died on 10th Jan 2019. Really want @kylieminogue to see this, to see how much her music means to us as a family and I would love for our girls to meet her. Please RT in the hope it reaches her. @BrainTumourOrg pic.twitter.com/8hckyH4UNm
