A German Shepherd named Rex is being hailed as a hero, and for good reason. The dog risked his life to save his 16-year-old human brother Javier when two burglars broke into their home in Washington state.

Fox News Q13 reported that Rex and Javier were home alone when burglars broke in, and the two hid in a bedroom closet while on the phone with the police. Rex refused to back down.

Javier’s aunt later wrote online that the dog encountered intruders who responded by attacking it.
“Rex is back upstairs, battered and bloodied from the beating to check if his master is still hiding in the closet,” Susie Cadena wrote. “The thieves quickly went upstairs and looted all the rooms. When they entered the room where my nephew was hiding in the closet, Rex came out with the little force he had left and pounced on them because he knew my nephew was in danger.

The robbers shot Rex by hitting him at least three times before escaping. Javier was left unharmed. But now Rex has entered the battle of his life.
Rex was taken to the BluePearl Veterinary Clinic after authorities arrived. The dog’s condition is stabilized, but the life-saving surgery would be an expensive operation. Rex’s family couldn’t afford it on their own. But hundreds of foreigners decided to help.

Susy started a GoFundMe page with a goal of $10,000 to help pay Rex’s medical bills. In a few days, more than 60 thousand dollars were raised!

Rex underwent the operation needed to save his life, and it was successful! After a few days, the dog was allowed to be released. He returned home to be with the people who love him the most to continue his recovery.
It would take more time and a lot of treatment, but Rex has improved a lot. The dog was hailed as a hero and proved to be quite the fighter, so not to be reckoned with! unbelievable.
