Raymond has been a business taxi driver for over 50 years. Over the years, he’s come across a lot of things that people have left inside his car. He picked up cell phones, keys and wallets. There was a time when he once found a suitcase containing 10,000 US dollars. As an honest man, he always came back with whatever he found.
One day, while making his usual rounds and looking for potential passengers, Raymond met someone who had left something that left him speechless.
Nothing could prepare him for what was to come
While driving his taxi, Raymond picked up a homeless man from Boston. Travel to an inn. The man asked Raymond to stop for 5 minutes while he was shopping. Promise to return.
After waiting 30 minutes, the man did not return. Worried, Raymond entered the motel and asked the receptionist. The workers did not know the man he was talking about.
Raymond got back in his car, confused
Suddenly he noticed a backpack behind his car. Raymond stops his car and finds that the bag is full of money with a total value of $187,000! Raymond brought the money to the police station.
“It’s who I am now. I don’t steal anything. I’ve never been a crook. It was great to see so much money like that – maybe life changing”
Boston police contacted the hotel and were able to locate the owner. Check the guy that the money is his. He inherited the money after his parents died. He had a receipt to prove it.
Police Commissioner William Evans praised Raymond for his kindness and honesty. “His actions represent the high standards our service sets for our drivers.”
When asked why the money was returned, Raymond said: “I think it was the right thing to do. A lot of people said, ‘You should have kept it’, but I couldn’t. do it.”
