Grant reminded listeners that the circumstances between Princess Diana and Meghan Markle are very similar. “I better be on Harry’s side. Grant said the tabloid press did indeed kill his mother, and now they’re tearing his wife apart.” “I think as a man it’s his job to protect his family, so I’m with him.”
Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris after being chased by paparazzi. The driver of Diana’s car was reportedly drunk when the accident happened in a tunnel. Three of the four occupants of the car were killed.
Harry issued a statement against the press in October last year saying: ‘So far we have been unable to correct persistent misrepresentation – something which these selected media were aware of, and therefore exploited on a daily and sometimes hourly basis.”
After drawing comparisons to the media’s treatment of his late mother, Princess Diana, before her death, the prince said his “deepest fear is that history will repeat itself”.
“I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is trivialized to the point where they’re no longer treated or seen as a real person,” he said. “I lost my mother and now I watch my wife fall victim to the same powerful forces.”
Meghan Markle has launched a lawsuit against Associated Newspapers in connection with the publication of a private letter she sent to her father, Thomas Markle.
In response to the lawsuit, Mr Markle spoke to the Daily Mail to explain his reasons for publishing the letter to the media. The 75-year-old alleged that an anonymous friend of the Duchess misrepresented the contents of the letter when he spoke to People Magazine.
He explained: “The message was presented in a way that misrepresented me and was not correct.” “It was introduced as she acceded and wrote a love letter hoping to fix the rift, but the letter isn’t like that at all. I have a right to defend myself.”
