A young girl was rescued from a burning house 19 years ago by a police officer. She finds her guardian angel 19 years after graduating from university.
Josibelk Aponte was a 5-year-old girl when she was nearly killed in a fire at her family’s home in Hartford, Connecticut on June 25, 1998. Fortunately, police detective Peter Getz rushed to the places and rescued her. CPR after a firefighter pulled her from the building.

Nineteen years later, Josibelk graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University and wanted to share this momentous occasion with him
“There are only a few moments that are very important in life. I wanted to share my graduation with everyone who was important to me, was there for me and helped me through difficult times,” said- she said in an interview with the Hartford Courant. .

She added: “I almost died, but I got a second chance at life, and it’s thanks to Peter and all the authorities, everyone who came to help that day.”

As Josiebelk was filled with gratitude to Peter, he said, “I did what I was trained to do, what I had to do.”
Gosiplik had a heart attack. As her partner drove them to the nearby hospital, Josibelk began CPR in the back of her patrol car. She was breathing on her own when they arrived at the hospital.
“I’m a cog in that wheel, from dispatchers to firefighters who risked their lives to get in and out. We all did what we [were trained] to do that day; it’s not just about me .That’s how it’s supposed to be a working process, and that’s why we wear [the outfit] we wear,” Peter said.
Josibelk also received a teddy bear from Peter during her hospital stay, and she still has it.

She lost contact with Peter after his family left. A few years ago, she reconnected with him via Facebook after some “Facebook bullying” and also invited him to her graduation. Being able to watch Josibelk graduate, Peter said, “makes my heart beat faster”.
