After finishing his lamps, he also noticed several structural problems in his house. Her ceilings were dangerously low, almost to the point of falling, and it was dangerous to climb the stairs to her house. His garden was also filled with invasive plants.
She later tells him that her house has frequent plumbing problems and that “critters” often find their way inside her house. Kenny decides to help fix his whole house and assembles a team of professionals who will volunteer to fix his house.
The team worked efficiently but still needed money to pay for repairs. They created a fundraising campaign to raise money for the materials needed. He set the goal at $75,000, but after just two weeks the fundraiser had already raised over $63,000.
Kenny later said hundreds of people across the country reached out to donate. Shortly after receiving the money, the group got to work. Kinney rewired Gloria’s entire house electrical system and the other professionals took care of many other issues.
According to CBS News, local restaurants decided to participate and provide free meals to all the volunteers who worked there. Gloria also received gifts from people near and far after the video went viral on numerous news stations.
The project is still ongoing, however, support has not been reduced. Everyone went to great lengths to help give Gloria a better home. Gloria is so grateful to everyone who contributed to this project and can’t wait to see the result. She claims the whole experience was more than a dream.
During a pandemic, this is exactly what the world needs. Acts of kindness truly make the world a better place.
“She’s so grateful that she constantly says, ‘There are no words for that,'” John’s brother Dan Kenny said.
According to CBS, Gloria said, “Look at these people… [you] can’t even imagine the gratitude I feel.”
