“I’m still in disbelief that my engagement ring endured months in the ocean, tossed around by a hurricane, only to be discovered by YOU!” Howard exclaimed.
She expressed her admiration for Cook’s kindness and his determination to locate her.
“What’s even more incredible is your persistence in tracking me down to return it! I see the goodness of God through you once again! Thank you for what you did for me and so many others!” Howard remarked.
In response, Cook conveyed his astonishment, stating that he couldn’t believe the sequence of events himself and felt it was destined to happen.
“I believe it was meant to be. I knew as soon as I picked that ring up it was special. I posted it so many times. I emailed the jewelry store and was actually surprised when y’all texted me because I’ve messaged companies before with no response,” Cook said.
Cook shared that he found three other rings in the same area and initially thought it was a set, jokingly adding, “Lots of love and hope you wear it in good health. P.S. don’t take it to the beach again.”
People commented on Cook’s post, with many praising him for his actions. “That’s why we love you so much! You are an upstanding citizen,” someone said.
“Thank you so much for being a good person Joe. Doing everything you could to find the real owner. That’s the right thing to do,” another said.
Despite being featured in national news, Cook remained incredulous. He firmly believes in karma, asserting that every time he returns an item, he finds something better, concluding, “Karma’s always good; every time I return an item, I find something better, so I’m happy I could give it back.”
