Alachua County firefighters and High Springs firefighters were called when the family’s Golden Retriever got lost in a 40-foot-deep hole that had opened on their property. The dog had no way out and the family was worried.

Sammy was so low that they had to use an extension ladder to get Lieutenant Brian Ferguson to the bottom. With the help of bacon to calm the nervous dog, Lieutenant Ferguson establishes confidence before picking up Sammy to take him to safety.

The rescue was successful and the Golden Retriever was able to escape from the situation without injury. Sami is at home and does well with his family. Good job from these lifeguards!
