The latest audition on American Idol left fans in tears due to the outstanding performance by a young high school singer named Shay. Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie were all amazed by her singing voice, but it wasn’t the only thing that captured their attention.
Shay explained before her performance that she was standing with a cane because she had a brain tumor that left her blind.
Despite this, she loved to sing and had been doing it for most of her life. After singing “Rise Up,” Katy Perry complimented her voice by calling it angelic, but Lionel Richie had the most incredible reaction. He stood up and hugged Shay, with tears in his eyes, saying that she had “devastated” him.
He thanked her for her spirit and reminded everyone how blessed they are. Shay received many hugs and applause from the judges and moved on to the next round. Everyone hopes she goes as far as possible in the competition.
