Isabella’s father, Phillip, works long hours at his job and tries to fix his daughter’s hair when she needs it, Good Morning America reports.
“He was getting mad at me because I was pulling his hair,” Phillip said. “I didn’t know how to do it. One day [Isabella] came home and she was beautiful. I called her my princess and she looks good, she plays the role and her confidence is very high, I tried.”
Isabella’s mother died in 2016 of a rare brain condition, according to Philip.
At first, Tracy spent a few minutes each morning doing one or two French braids and started teaching Isabella how to do it herself. Once Isabella started working on her hair, she also gained confidence.
“He would get on the bus and say, ‘I combed my hair. Is it all right?’” Tracy said. “I would say, ‘You were great.’”
Both Isabella and her father are grateful that Tracy stepped in to help and that she took this extra step to rekindle Isabella’s confidence.
