Officers Mercado and Tavira were patrolling the streets of Los Angeles when they spotted an abandoned puppy stumbling along Hobart Street.

The frightened pup noticed the customers and somehow felt that they could help him. He trotted his little feet and approached Officer Mercado with optimistic eyes. The friendly officer immediately picked him up and took him to their patrol car.
He was clearly desperate for someone to love and protect him, and was too young to take care of himself.

Officers named the puppy “Hobart” and introduced him to staff at the Hollywood Department of the Los Angeles Police Department. The cops were all so excited to meet this adorable pup that they immediately offered to train him on their K9 unit!

In a warm gesture, Officer Mercado stepped forward and adopted little Hobart! The puppy’s bad days are over now, and he’s used to being a lovable and pampered lad in his new home.

Since Hobart is still very young, he is not yet ready to train as a K9. At the moment, he is only happy to have small adventures with his father. From struggling to survive on the streets to being a lovable, furry member of the LAPD, Hobart has already come a long way!
We thank you Agents Mercado, Tavera, and the rest of the department for saving this sweet boy!
