Unfortunately, Ms Glancey was unable to pay these fines and was unwilling to leave her home. She was in an unresolved predicament. She had no family who could help her.
She was somewhat aloof, rarely went out, and rarely had company at home. She wasn’t physically fit enough to do the work herself, so she had to hire contractors to do the renovations.
As Anne lamented her unsolvable predicament, a glimmer of hope entered her position. Five years ago, a couple moved into the house next door, and they were the only person in the neighborhood who had shown him any friendship during the years they lived there.
When Adam and Kristen realize their neighbor’s dilemma, they become anxious. They tried to talk to Anne about the problem, but she was too shy to talk about it.
The couple was very worried about their neighbor, so they refused to give in, trying to find a solution to her problem. Unbeknownst to Anne, they recruited friends and other volunteers to do work around the house.
A large team of people came to do the renovations and they continued the project throughout the summer until the necessary repairs were completed. Extensive repairs were needed to get the job done and it is amazing to see the transformation of the dilapidated old house.
When city officials inspected the restored home, they cleared all infractions and she was no longer at risk of hefty fines. The repair work, if Anne had hired contractors to do the work, would have cost up to $15,000.
After her community came together to help her with such a rare act of kindness, she gained a brighter attitude and became more willing to make friends.
Anne loves to cook and has started bringing carrot cakes and orange juice to people who have helped renovate her house. Her next-door neighbors say the renewed joy in Anne’s life is the only reward they could want for the work they’ve done.
