Countless members of the UK social media community have praised the man for his bold and timely decision to save the dog’s life. Temperatures inside a small car can rise surprisingly quickly. If he waits longer, the dog may have suffered severe heat stroke or even died.
Many netizens expressed a desire to buy a drink for the new domestic hero. One Facebook user summed it all up in an explosive comment: “I want to buy the guy who broke the glass a pint! What a legend!
Thank goodness there are still sane people around.” Another user felt the need to comment on the negligence of the dog owner. “Well done to the man who broke the window. Fools don’t deserve a dog.”
In response to this incident, the RSPCA released a statement about the incident on its website: “Dogs die in hot cars. A car can get hot like an oven very quickly, even if you don’t feel hot. When it’s 22 degrees, the temperature in a car can reach 22 degrees Fahrenheit. 47 degrees in an hour is unbearable.” Like most members of British society, the RSPCA quotes temperatures in degrees Celsius.
According to them, the outside temperature of 71.6 degrees Fahrenheit translates to an unbearable temperature of 116.6 degrees inside a parked car.
Based on this statement, it is clear that dogs should not be left alone in a parked car for any length of time. Heavy air conditioning could be a solution – but since it’s so easy for unsupervised pets to get into trouble, it doesn’t make sense to leave a pup alone in the car.
