There are certain milestones that most parents look forward to with their children. Things like the first steps, the first words, and the first day at school are great achievements for toddlers!
But for parents of children with autism, these milestones don’t fall in a particular time frame and may not happen at all. This is what a mom named Brianna Blankenship was doing with her 5-year-old daughter Taylor.
Doctors have diagnosed Taylor with a type of autism called “nonverbal,” which means she does not communicate with speech. Although she understood bits of English when people spoke, making up her own words just wasn’t possible.
Everything changed one day in the McDonald’s car delivery chain.
