Penny attends Rasmussen College on the site of the Mankato campus. As her graduation date nears, she learns that she is to receive a special pin at the ceremony, as is a tradition for all nursing graduates.
If you are unfamiliar with installation ceremonies, it usually symbolizes the development from a student to a professional nurse.
Usually a beloved graduate presents the pin. Penny was so excited to graduate because nursing school is not easy for anyone and it is a great achievement.
To celebrate the big day, Penny thought her husband would love to give her his pin, but she couldn’t expect the surprise of a lifetime when she found out who was really getting her pin!
At the graduation party, Penny was thrilled to have her husband present his lapel pin. As she stood on the podium on stage, she was shocked to realize that a special guest was in the building ready to present her pin – and it wasn’t her husband!
Her husband and the school members had already arranged a surprise for Penny that she would never forget.
Wearing his pin was none other than his son, a 29-year-old Army sergeant named Dustin Pearson.
Dustin had just returned from a year-long deployment to Kuwait, and he was ready and waiting to be presented to his mother with honor!
