Prince Harry may have the fortune of a king, but he claims he has one dependable, money-saving habit: making sure there aren’t too many lights around the house.
Prince Harry does this for reasons other than saving money, of course. Harry claimed the habit was passed down to him from his father, Prince Charles, who is known for his environmental activism.
In a new BBC One documentary, Harry said of his father Prince Charles: “He’s an advocate when it comes to turning off the lights.” People magazine reported: “Prince, son and heir: Charles at 70.” And that fascinates me now.”
“I know I have real light switch OCD now,” Prince William continues, “and that’s a bad thing.”
As a newlywed, Harry admits his wife Meghan Markle has made comments about the habit.
“My wife often says, ‘Well, why are you turning off the light? “It’s dark you know.” In the documentary, Harry adds, “We only need one light, we don’t need six.”
“Then it becomes a habit, and those simple adjustments that he’s making that anyone can make,” says Harry. “I think that was one of the most important lessons he taught us.
Prince Charles and his sons aren’t the only members of the royal family who preserve energy. “The attention of all members of staff is directed to the necessity to cut off unnecessary lights,” the Queen was said to have posted warning notices around the palace in the past. By the Master of the Household’s Order.” She was rumored to have explored the palace’s vast halls, switching the lights off herself on occasion.
Turning off the lights in your house is not only good for the environment, but it is also excellent for your cash. The British royal family is worth an estimated $95 billion, but they are known to save money wherever they can, such as by shopping at IKEA, eating leftovers, and having Prince George wear his father’s hand-me-downs.
