When an elderly woman passed out while shopping with her daughter, an act of kindness provided her with the support she needed until help arrived.

Brittany McKee, a registered nurse who was also running errands at the time, noticed the deceased woman and after regaining her orientation, encouraged her to stay on the floor until an ambulance arrived. Without saying a word, a store employee sat on the floor next to her and supported her the whole time.

Touched by the man’s act of kindness, Brittany and her entourage shared the following message online, which has since been shared hundreds of thousands of times around the world:

“After my appointment this morning to watch our baby boy, my husband and I stopped by Walmart in Evans to pick up some things. As we were walking to the refrigeration department, we noticed a woman who passed out. and fell to the ground.”

“As a registered nurse, my first instinct, of course, was to stop and assess and be there to help. She had found her bearings, but said she was on blood thinners and felt dizzy. So I stayed with her, her daughter and the Walmart staff until the ambulance arrived and tried to encourage her to stay seated.

Brittany was very moved when she saw one of the staff, unasked, gently sit down on the floor next to the woman to help give her something to talk about. ‘to lean on.

“Walmart’s staff have been amazing. They kept in touch with dispatch while we waited for the bus to arrive. Then there was Jason. I don’t know her last name, but this guy, no questions asked, fell on the floor with this woman and held her up so she could lean on him. He literally came to Earth to serve her, not because he was told to, which he wasn’t, but because he wanted to.”

At a time when society is tormented by the subject of racism, Brittany’s heart deeply enjoyed seeing two people with different skin tones identify with each other.

The media recently showed that our country is divided, filled with racial hatred and tension, but here was a human being who loved and served the other without conditions of race or commitment. While we waited, another man stopped, knelt down and prayed for this woman.

“What I experienced today was love, kindness and service. We are human beings, each one of us, regardless of our skin pigmentation. I can’t help to share because the media can’t seem to convey this…the unity and positivity that is happening. Here is real life, and that’s what it’s all about, not hate .”

Jason’s act of kindness helped the woman through a tough time and teaches us that we should all be there for each other. Although our skin colors may be different, science has proven that inside we are biologically the same; this “race” in itself is not a true biological grouping. We are truly all one human race. One human family, and it is beautiful to see us coming together in acts of love and kindness to one another.
