Body shame is unacceptable. Some people are very conscious of their appearance and that body shame affects them.
The principal of a South Carolina high school has come under fire for some of the inflammatory comments she made. Heather Taylor, principal of Stratford High School, said girls who aren’t skinny shouldn’t wear leggings like pants. Why? They make them look greasy.
Alison Fizzy is a student at the school who was upset when she heard the comment. Alison doesn’t fit a size zero or two but she loves wearing leggings.
The principal’s comment drew various reactions from parents and others who commented on the school’s Facebook forum page. They describe the comment as discouraging and disgusting.
But the principal says his comments were not meant to hurt or offend the students. Although she made her position clear, parents and students are still angry at her statement.
What do you think of the manager’s comments? Was she justified in making such comments?
