According to Gulf News, the flight was en route to Kuala Lumpur from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia but returned after being informed by the mother. The plane decided to turn around and land at the airport so the woman could pick up her child.
A video clip has gone viral on the internet of the pilot asking to return to the airport due to the strange incident. You can hear customers being surprised by the request and trying to figure out what to do in the situation.
“God is with us. Can we go back or what?” the pilot can be heard saying in the video. The operator was heard asking a colleague to confirm the correct protocol, saying: “This flight asks to come back… The passenger forgot her child in the waiting room, poor thing.”
They again asked the pilot why he wanted to return to the airport, saying: “We told you, a female passenger left her child in the arrivals hall and refused to continue the flight.”
