Anyway, the judges started with the usual questions they always ask before any rehearing. Everyone was shaking because the boys admitted they had only been playing together for a month. To make matters worse, none of them had professional musical experience. When they admitted it, Judge Amanda Holden buried her face in her hands.
Finally, it’s time for the boys to sing. Everyone in the audience appeared as if they just wanted to see the disaster so it could be over. But what happened next shocked everyone.
Everyone expected the boys to sing cheesy pop songs, most likely from another boy band that had preceded them. Instead, the boys chose the song Stars from Les Miserables.
The Stars is a song known for being difficult to sing, as well as being a very moving piece that depicts a man’s final thoughts before suicide. It’s not the kind of song you usually associate with a boy band!
The five young men managed this difficult course and achieved the best performance of the evening. The crowd was filled with dropped jaws as the boys punched them all, shattering all their negative expectations.
“When all five of you are out,” Simon Cowell told them, after their massive test was over. I thought, ‘Here we are, another boy band! “
The stern judge then showered the boys with praise, describing their performance as “bloody and wonderful”.
The band recently performed on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, as featured here on News and Star.
