In 1959, Dennis and Karen were high school classmates in Brownton, a small town in McLeod County, Minnesota, when they started dating. 17-year-old Dennis and 15-year-old Karen have fallen in love. Soon Karen became pregnant.
Due to her age and the times and severe social crises she faced, Karen had to put her baby girl up for adoption. The couple fought to stay together. But Dennis was rejected by Karen’s parents when he asked them to marry their daughter.
Dennis joined the army. Karen went to college. When Dennis was discharged from the hospital and returned home, the couple rekindled their love. He was 24 and she was 22. They dated for six months and Dennis decided to try his luck again and marry Karen. Of course, Karen said yes, but her father, who died in the face of the match, said no again – not only that, but also threateningly supported her reign. Karen was a student at the time, and her father threatened to stop paying her tuition if she married Denise.
The couple then had no choice, so they stopped seeing each other. They separated and eventually married other people and continued their careers.
Decades have passed. One night, Dennis was playing a game at a social gathering when he was asked a question: If you could spend an hour with anyone in the world, who would it be? Instead of choosing a famous politician or movie star, Dennis said Karen’s name. his old flame.
By then Dennis had divorced his wife and Karen had been widowed.
The next day, Dennis did a search on LinkedIn and found Karen’s contact information. Karen worked as an interior designer in Washington State. Dennis ran his own marketing business in Eden Prairie. He took a big risk and called her, not knowing her situation – and the spark of romance was still there.
After 56 years, Denise and Karen finally get married in January 2015. But their journey has only just begun… because after a year, they decide to find the girl they were forced to abandon at the adolescence.
However, no one expected what would unfold once the search began. Watch the video below to find out:
