Jordan was placed with her when he was a baby. When Ingeborg fell in love with Jordan the moment she laid eyes on the beloved child, she begged to adopt him.
However, it was not easy to convince Jordan’s birth mother as she wanted Jordan to be adopted by African Americans or at least ethnic parents.
Then, when no one else was available, it was clear that Jordan belonged with Ingeborg.
“They put him in my arms and it was love at first sight,” Ingeborg said.
Ingeborg has cared for 125 children over the years, but no one has ever stolen her heart like Jordan did.
“He was part of the family no matter what.”
Sadly, after 28 years, Ingeborg has received heartbreaking news. She suffered from polycystic kidney disease and needed a kidney transplant.
Growing up and becoming an adult, Jordan decided to do everything in his power to save his mother.
He decided to donate his kidney to Ingeborg and made a secret appointment to see if he was a compatible donor.
Fortunately it was
“I feel like that was my message in life, I guess,” Jordan said. “I hope I can do more for her as I get older, but right now it’s the least I can do.”
Ingeborg insisted that Jordan not go ahead with his plan, but Jordan had already decided to help his mother survive.
Even when he spoke of Ingeborg, it was clear that his love and devotion was real.
“Everything she’s done for me since I was a kid, I just wanted to give back to her, show her how much I appreciate her,” he said.
