Sometimes life’s greatest heroes are right in front of us. Earlier this year, Colette Kingston’s elderly mother hit her head after falling while trying to catch her litter at the end of her driveway. Opal, 88, suffers from dementia.
Colette installed a security camera to protect her mother, but what she captured in the video were friendly interactions between the garbage collectors with her mother.
As reported by WDAF-TV, Colette decided to install a security camera to monitor opal in her home in Independence, Missouri. Colette knew it would be a good way to stay in close contact with her mother, so she felt confident that she was doing well in her daily routine.
After some time observing the system, Collette noticed that a neighborhood sanitation worker was still interacting with her mother. At first glance, Colette simply thought the garbage collector was friendly.
However, after careful consideration, Colette realizes that this particular worker has gone beyond the call of duty to treat her mother with exceptional kindness and respect.
It’s easy to see why Colette was so touched by this worker’s kindness to her fragile mother. In fact, she was so touched by the interactions that she told WDAF-TV that she was actually crying. She was determined to get to know the kind worker so she could thank him for his service.
The interaction was a learning experience for Colette as she realized that these workers often go unnoticed. But we don’t think she’ll ever forget that sanitation factor.
