The album concluded with “Our Children’s Wedding”, celebrating the wedding of Joseph and Margaret Gargwiello. The beautiful images were a stunning look into a bygone era. Upon further investigation, Bobby and Megan discover that the Garguilos have been married for over 50 years.
A wedding invitation slipped into the pages of the scrapbook was dated September 14, 1963. The couple were married in Woodhaven, St. Thomas the Apostle Church in New York City, with a reception at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Upon finding the album, Kapsidis knew they had to try to locate Garguilos to return the item. Megan began extensive research using social media. After posting photos on Facebook, Meghan thought she had struck gold when she found Garguilos’ phone number only to learn he was offline.
The Capsidis felt the research was very personal, noting how only Garglous memories of the party could be.
By appealing to the media for assistance, Inside Edition was able to help the couple locate Marguerite, who resides in a subsidized residence in Florida. Unfortunately, Joseph passed away several years ago from Parkinson’s disease.
Inside Edition was also able to track down another relative of Garguilos, who told reporters that Joseph and Margaret hadn’t been married for a long time before the divorce.
Megan was thrilled to hear what happened to Garguilos and called him a “moron”. However, Meghan still hopes to return the album to someone from the Garguilo family, saying an item like this should never be thrown away.
