Treasure hunting is a lifelong goal for Raynard. He started metal detecting as a hobby at the age of seven and took it more seriously at the age of thirty-five.
He regularly studies old maps looking for evidence of possible treasure, but this discovery was completely unexpected.
The pieces are now in the Ulster Museum for formal identification and appraisal by a team of experts.
Their value would be shared between Raynard and the landowner if they chose to sell the coins.
