The half-Irish, half-Texas couple found out that the half-Texas was pregnant in July 2016. Six months later, they were told her gender was a boy. Both expectant parents were excited about the gender of their developing baby.
Both Ben and Taryn worked stressful retail jobs that were paying low hourly wages, causing them to work as hard as they could. In addition, the couple had largely contradictory schedules, leaving little time for them to enjoy each other’s company for five to six days a week.
In January 2017, the month the Irish-American couple found out the gender of their child, the two had been dating for several years. Ben has always wanted to take the love of his life to Ireland. However, now that Ben knew he would be having a baby in a few months, he was more motivated than ever to take Taryn to Ireland.
Unfortunately, they could not afford it.
Days after giving up hope of traveling to the European island, Ben miraculously receives a tip $750 from a casual out-of-town client he’s never seen before. Ben and the stranger had a small chat, during which Ben shared his fervent desire to take his future family of three to visit his family in Ireland.
After the customer left, Ben began cleaning the table. “I hope this brings you back to Ireland for the holiday,” the receipt read.
Ben broke the news to his girlfriend because he casually shared the receipt with her at the end of his shift. Taryn took a picture of the receipt and uploaded it to Facebook, where it quickly went viral. Soon, the couple traveled to Ireland with their healthy newborn baby.
