Their hug helped change medicine and saved a life. In 1995, twins Keri and Brielle were born prematurely. Each weighed only about two pounds at birth.
At 3 weeks old, Brill had difficulty breathing and her health was deteriorating. A nurse decided to put them in the same incubator to see what would happen and something wonderful happened.
Keri put her arm around her sister and Brill immediately began to calm down.
It turns out that a photojournalist was in the hospital at that exact moment and took a photo called “Rescue Hug”, which became famous all over the world.
Not only did the twins bring Brill back to life, but the doctors also taught the incredible healing power of touch and changed the way they treat infants.
