Nelson ventured to Washington, D.C. to receive the Gershwin Prize. The full name of the prize is the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Folk Song, and Willie Nelson added the 2015 version of the prize to his many prizes.

According to Tennessean, an event is not simply about delivering the award to the intended recipient. Other artists and music legends greet the guest of honor. A host of stars took turns tipping their hats to Nelson. Perhaps the highlight of the evening was a performance by seven Spanish angels that nearly brought Nelson to tears.
Musicians Alison Krause and Jamie Johnson, friends of Nelson, performed the singer’s classic song. The delivery stirred Nelson as emotion washed over him. The original duo that made the song famous were Nelson and Ray Charles.
The two recorded and released the song in 1984. The release made headlines as Charles provided his biggest country chart.
Unfortunately, Nelson went public with his problems with the Internal Revenue Service years ago and provided only boring and embarrassing press. Luckily, her fans have moved past these events, and news reports don’t indulge in stories about her tax troubles.
Nelson continues to give updates on his accomplishments. Not only has Willie Nelson won a major award for his career as an artist, but he recently earned another degree in Tae Kwon Do black belt. Although he doesn’t walk around like he used to, it’s safe to say that the inspirational star likes to stay active.
